lp course 2

The Course

RACE LOCATION: Page, AZ

We’ve adjusted our course slightly in 2017. Instead of starting at John C. Page Park, we’ll be at the Page Shores Amphitheater. This means an added hill to train for at the beginning, but the rest of the course is pretty much the same.

The Lake Powell Course features some really spectacular views of the lake. Starting at the Page Shores Amphitheater and ending at Stateline Marina, this is one of the fastest courses in our race series. It is also the first race to feature a trail as part of the course. Below is a course map and description.

TRAIL – The area between Mile 5 and 6 is on a trail. There are areas with loose sand and some ups and downs. Be careful.

The course starts in Page, AZ at the Page Shores Amphitheater, then goes into town and runs near the airport and through some residential neighborhoods for the first 3 miles. You get some great views when you get near the airport, but ultimately, it is still running in neighborhoods.

Mile 3.5 is when things get awesome. There is a single(almost double) track trail that runs out along a mesa in Page called the “Rim Trail” and gives you really spectacular views of the lake. Any spectators with boats may want to head East of the Dam around Antelope Island to cheer on runners from the water.

After about 2 miles on this trail, the course gets back on the road and drops down quickly to the highway about a half mile south from the bridge. You cross over the bridge(awesome) and after a small incline you turn onto Lake Shore Drive. So freaking pretty.

You run along lake shore drive and turn towards the hotel once you get near the marina. At the hotel, you get onto a running path for the last mile of the race. With about a half mile left you can see the finish line and your fans can see you! We’ll finish at the end of the parking lot very close to the water.

Elevation Map

Its a gradual decline where you lose about 650 feet overall.

Start & Finish Time

The race will start at 6:30am sharp! This is Arizona time. You’ll need to be careful about times at this race, because phone clocks tend to be sketchy that close to the Utah border, and of course Arizona does not participate in daylight savings.

Our cutoff for the race is 10:30am, giving runners 4 hours to finish. Plenty of time for even slowish walkers. That is a 18 minute mile.
